According to the Erasmus+ page of Atlas University, the Erasmus+ Program is the European Union’s grant program in the fields of education, youth, and sports. This program supports cooperation between institutions through activities such as studying, teaching, internships, professional development, and youth activities based on informal learning abroad.
Between 1985-2006, the program was implemented under the names Socrates, and from 2007-2013, under the name Lifelong Learning. From 2014 to 2020, the program continued under the name Erasmus+. Following the successful implementation of the program in the 2014-2020 period, Erasmus+ will continue between 2021-2027, focusing on quality, striving to provide opportunities to a larger number of participants and a broader range of organizations with more inclusive and coherent, greener, and more digital emphases.
The program has a budget of over 26 billion Euros from the EU budget for seven years (2021-2027). The European Commission is responsible for managing the Erasmus+ Program, overseeing the budget, and continuously determining the priorities, objectives, and criteria for the program. The implementation of the Erasmus+ Program is primarily carried out through indirect management, meaning that the European Commission entrusts the national agencies with the task of budget implementation.
